Chinese Pepper Steak with Onion!

Ingredients You’ll Need
Serves 4

For the Steak:
1 lb flank steak or sirloin , thinly sliced against the grain
2 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp vegetable oil (for marinating)
1 tsp black pepper (adjust to taste)
For the Sauce:
3 tbsp soy sauce
2 tbsp oyster sauce
1 tbsp hoisin sauce
1 tbsp brown sugar (or honey)
½ cup beef broth
1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry for thickening)
For Stir-Frying:
2 tbsp vegetable oil
1 large onion , sliced into thin strips
2 cloves garlic , minced
1 red bell pepper (optional, for color and crunch)
Cooked white or brown rice , for serving
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Marinate the Steak
In a bowl, combine sliced beef, soy sauce, cornstarch, vegetable oil, and black pepper. Mix well and let marinate for 15–20 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.
Step 2: Prepare the Sauce
In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, brown sugar, and beef broth. Set aside.
Step 3: Stir-Fry the Vegetables
Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
Add onions (and bell pepper, if using) and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes , until slightly softened but still crisp. Remove and set aside.
