I ask you to spread the word about this today.
If you encounter a hedgehog in your garden in early spring, do not harm it!
Hedgehogs are nature’s little gardeners. They are the ones who quietly and unnoticed help us keep our gardens healthy and balanced. As nocturnal wanderers, they consume a vast amount of harmful insects, snails, and caterpillars, protecting your plants in a completely natural way.
Unfortunately, many hedgehogs emerge in early spring when the nights are still cold and food is scarce. During this time, it is especially important not to disturb them, or try to drive them away or move them elsewhere. If you find one in your garden, consider it a guest—a helpful and lovely guest!
What you can do for them:
* Check before you burn: Do not light fires before checking leaf piles—they often hibernate there!
* Provide food and drink: Leave out a little water and some cat food (but never milk!).
* Go chemical-free: Avoid using toxic pesticides or chemicals in your garden.
* Help the weak: If you see a tiny, weak, or injured hedgehog, contact your local animal rescue.
These tiny creatures are not only useful but also lovable. Let’s help them live in peace in our gardens!
