ةThe Great Egg Debate: Why Doctors Are Changing Their Minds
For decades, the humble egg was the “villain” of the breakfast table. Doctors warned that the high cholesterol found in yolks was a direct ticket to heart disease. However, recent nutritional science has flipped the script, revealing that eating eggs can trigger effects on the body that are not only surprising but overwhelmingly positive.
1. The Cholesterol Myth Debunked
The most surprising shift in medical advice concerns cholesterol. While one large egg contains about 186mg of cholesterol, researchers have discovered that for most people, dietary cholesterol has a much smaller impact on blood cholesterol levels than previously thought. Instead, the liver adjusts its own production based on how much you eat. For the majority of the population, eggs actually raise HDL (the “good” cholesterol), which can help lower the risk of heart disease.
